MOORESVILLE, N.C. – A Mooresville police officer is recovering after a suspected drunk driver crashed into the officer’s vehicle on Saturday night, according to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol.
It happened around 9:40 p.m. on Mt. Ulla Highway. Troopers said 19-year-old Gabriel Cline was traveling north when he drove off the road, overcorrected and hit a southbound Mooresville police officer.
Both Cline and the officer were transported to the hospital and were later released.
Troopers charged Cline with driving while impaired, driving by person less than 21 years old after consuming alcohol, felony serious injury by motor vehicle, carrying a concealed weapon, reckless driving, and possessing an open container of alcohol.
Cline received a $10,000 bond.
The highway patrol is investigating the crash.
