No widespread snow, but area-wide freezing temperatures ahead

Freezing temperatures spill across the region early next week

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A strong cold front will push through the area on Sunday, brining isolated showers and much cooler temperatures to the region.

Temperatures early Tuesday morning will drop below freezing for most, if not all, neighborhoods in the WCCB Charlotte area. This will be our first freeze of the season, but it’s right on schedule. Our average first freeze of the season in Charlotte is November 8th. Our latest first freeze occurred on December 10, 1978.

With the cold air in place and some moisture still moving across the mountains, snow is possible! While the snow will not be widespread, some locations in the High Country could pick up measurable snow. Charlotte snow lovers – unfortunately, this snow will not make it to the piedmont.
