Arctic blast moves in tonight

Hard freeze Monday night

Hopefully everyone enjoyed the spring-like weather we experienced today, because the thermometer plummets overnight tonight! An arctic front is approaching our area from the NW. It crosses the WCCB Charlotte viewing area late this evening, and into the overnight. Behind it the coldest air of the season and High Country snow works in. On and off snow showers and squalls are likely in the High Country from overnight tonight through Tuesday morning.

Monday afternoon will feel more like January than November. Highs will land in the mid 40s for the majority of the Piedmont, and near freezing in the High Country. We could even see a couple flurries or even a quick isolated snow shower in the Piedmont Monday night, but no impacts would amount from it. If you aren’t in the path of the snow, then the first hard freeze of the season will be a concern. I’m expecting widespread lows in the 20s for the Piedmont on Monday night. This will officially end the planting season for just about all of the Carolinas. We will also have to watch for frigid wind chills. Wind chill values will approach 0 in the High Country overnight Monday. Feels like values could find the teens in portions of the Piedmont in this same time frame!

By the middle of the week we begin to climb back to average, and even flirt with the 70s by the end of the week!. We look all dry from Tuesday through Friday at least. Our next system tries to arrive by the end of next weekend. Y’all stay bundled up, and stick with the WCCB Charlotte weather team for the latest!
