Winsome warmup ahead

Tuesday morning brought us the coldest temperatures we've seen in nearly nine months, but the frost and freeze will be a distant memory by the end of the week.

Happy Hump Day! Tuesday morning brought the coldest temperatures the Queen City has seen in nearly nine months, but the frost and freeze will be a distant memory by the end of the week. Stiff southwesterly breezes will pump significantly warmer air into the Carolinas this Wednesday afternoon, pushing highs well into the 60s across the Piedmont and Foothills. A weak, dry cold front sweeps into the WCCB Charlotte viewing area from the northwest overnight into Thursday, but we won’t see rain chances nor any cooler temperatures into the back half of the week. In fact, afternoon temperatures will push near 70Β° around the Metro on Friday.

Even warmer air awaits us this weekend. Highs will surge 10-15Β° above normal on Saturday and Sunday, putting Charlotte squarely in the mid-70s as abundant sunshine continues its dominance across the Carolinas; areas south and east of the Metro could be flirting with 80Β°. Another cold front will cut down temperatures again by the start of next week, but don’t expect any appreciable rainfall outside of the High Country over the next five days.
