Wonderful end to workweek, warm & sunny weekend ahead

Some communities may be flirting with the 80s on Sunday.

Happy Friday Eve! The penultimate day of the workweek is off to another chilly start, but Monday night’s snow and Tuesday morning’s frost and freeze will become a distant memory over the next few days as temperatures surge well above average. Expect highs near 70Β° around the Metro for the final two days of the workweek as bright sunshine continues its dominance over the Carolinas. The mercury climbs even higher this weekend; afternoon temperatures soar into the mid-70s across the Piedmont and Foothills on Saturday and Sunday, aided by winds out of the southwest. Some spots southeast of I-85 have an outside chance of cracking 80Β° on Sunday.

A weak cold front will cut into the Carolinas on Sunday, but there won’t be much moisture associated with it. While a few scattered showers will roll through the High Country as we wrap up the weekend, rain chances remain few and far between in the Queen City over the next five days. Temperatures will cool a bit on the backside of the front, but highs remain above average in the upper 60s and lower 70s through the first two days of the new workweek. Our next best chance for rain in Charlotte comes on Tuesday, but models don’t seem thrilled about our prospects for meaningful rainfall right now.
