Cool & sunny start to workweek, much warmer by Wednesday

Highs may approach 80Β° in the Metro by the end of the workweek.

We’re waking up much cooler across the board this Monday morning after near-record highs over the weekend, thanks to Sunday’s cold front. While it won’t feel like winter this afternoon, highs in the 50s and 60s across the board will be nowhere near the 79Β° we reached in the Queen City on Sunday. We won’t be missing the warmth for too long, though; highs will sharply rise well above average again by Wednesday as a warm front lifts through the Carolinas. The incoming system could bring a stray shower or two to the WCCB Charlotte viewing area as we wake up Wednesday morning, but rain chances appear few and far between in the Piedmont over the next five days.

Highs will approach record territory – near 80Β° in the Metro – again by the end of the week. Our next best chance for rain and cooler weather arrives Friday night into Saturday morning as another weak disturbance slinks toward the Carolinas, but it appears that most of the moisture will once again remain west of the Continental Divide. The mercury won’t fall by much, either; highs should remain above normal in the 60s and 70s across the board this weekend.
