Sunny skies with highs on the rise
We'll have a few opportunities for isolated showers over the next five days, but don't expect rainfall totals to amount to much.
Our second day of the workweek is off to another chilly start, but temperatures return to above-normal territory this Tuesday afternoon and don’t look back. Highs will surge near 70Β° today across the Piedmont and Foothills as southerly winds push much warmer air into the Carolinas. A few showers may roll into the WCCB Charlotte viewing area from the west tonight into early Wednesday morning, but you can expect the mercury to rise even higher in the afternoon as temperatures soar into the mid-to-upper 70s around the Metro. Temperatures may cool a bit on Thursday as a cold front ushers in winds from a more northerly direction, but highs bounce back into near-record territory by the end of the week.
Our next best chance for rain arrives by Friday evening as an expansive rainmaking system sweeps in from the west. While most of the moisture remains north and west of the Metro, a few scattered showers will make it over the Continental Divide and into the NC Piedmont and Foothills. It won’t amount to much, but we’ll take what we can get. While cooler air finally filters into the Carolinas by the end of the weekend, above-average temperatures appear poised to carry into next week.
