Hump Day highs approach record territory

A few isolated showers and storms may find their way into the Piedmont and Foothills over the coming days, but most of the moisture stays north of our area.

Happy Hump Day! Get ready for a major warm-up this Wednesday afternoon after the Queen City fell a tick short of 70Β° on Tuesday. Highs will soar into the mid-to-upper 70s across the Piedmont and Foothills today as abundant sunshine cooks the Carolinas. A cold front is sweeping into the WCCB Charlotte viewing area this morning, but most of the moisture won’t survive the trip over the Appalachians. While the front won’t bring much in terms of rain, it will bring cooler air back into the Metro as highs sink back closer to 70Β° for the final two days of the workweek.

More clouds will build in by Friday as an expansive rainmaking system approaches from the west. Once again, the best rain chances lie north of I-40 as we move into the weekend. That said, it appears that Saturday afternoon will bring the Piedmont’s best chance for rain as another front sweeps through; a few isolated showers and thunderstorms are possible as highs rise near 80Β°. Cooler air awaits us as we roll into Thanksgiving week, but temperatures remain above normal for the next seven days ahead.
