Warmer & windier Wednesday, another round of mountain snow tonight
The lower elevations will remain dry, but the High Country could see another 1-4" of snow overnight into Thursday.
Happy Hump Day! Temperatures are back on the rise this Wednesday afternoon after a chilly start to the workweek. Highs will cruise into the mid-to-lower 50s for most across the Piedmont and Foothills, aided by strong southwesterly winds. Gusts may approach 30-40 mph at times ahead of a cold front that sweeps through the Carolinas tonight. While the incoming system won’t bring any moisture into the Piedmont and Foothills, it will bring another healthy round of snow overnight into Thursday; most locations over 3000′ will see 1-4″ of the white stuff.
Colder temperatures settle back into the Carolinas on the backside of the incoming front, as well. Highs will struggle to clear the 40s around the Metro on Thursday, while the High Country hovers near freezing. The mercury rollercoaster continues into the weekend as afternoon temperatures swell near 60Β° in the Queen City by Saturday before another cold front slices into the WCCB Charlotte viewing area by the end of the weekend. The coldest air we’ve seen so far this season arrives by Monday morning; lows likely dip into the 20s, teens, and single digits across the board as we kick off the new workweek. Outside of tonight’s mountain snow, precipitation chances will be hard to come by over the next five days.
