5 injured in east Charlotte crash

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Five people were transported to the hospital following a pin-in crash in east Charlotte early Sunday morning.

It happened around 3 a.m. on North Wendover Road near Marvin Road. Medic said five ambulances and several fire trucks responded to the scene, and that at least one person was pinned in a vehicle involved in the crash that had hit a tree.

Two people were transported to Novant Presbyterian with life-threatening injuries. Three others sustained serious injuries and were transported to Atrium CMC.

It is unclear what caused the crash at this time. This story will be updated as more information becomes available.
