Update: Plane crashes at Statesville Regional Airport

STATESVILLE, N.C. (WCCB) — According to eyewitnesses, a small aircraft has crashed at Statesville Regional Airport and is engulfed in flames. This happened before 10:30 a.m. Thursday.

At this time, it is believed no one on board the plane survived the crash. Flight logs from FlightAware indicate that the aircraft was traveling at speeds exceeding 100 mph at the time of the accident. The flight logs stop transmitting data just before 10:15 am.

According to FlightAware, the plane involved was a Cessna C550 business jet with tail number N257BW. WCCB Charlotte has confirmed this plane belongs to Greg Biffle. We’re working to confirm the identities of those onboard.
