Two Mint Hill Police officers critically injured in shooting outside shopping center, gunman dead

MINT HILL, N.C. — Two Mint Hill Police officers were critically injured and a gunman is dead following a shooting outside a shopping center.

Police say they responded to an emergency call at 10:47 a.m. regarding a child custody exchange outside a shopping center near Edible Arrangements and Publix on Matthews-Mint Hill Road.

Authorities say during the interaction, a man pulled a gun and exchanged shots with two Mint Hill Police officers.

Both officers were critically injured in the shooting. Authorities say the gunman is dead.
