One man dead after shooting in West Charlotte

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – One man is dead after a shooting in West Charlotte. Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department responded to Carol Avenue around 7 Monday evening after a call about gunshots. When police arrived they found a man shot. MEDIC pronounced him dead at the scene.

Investigators spent several hours on Carol Avenue canvassing the scene for evidence and speaking to witnesses. Police did not release any information about the suspect. Police are asking anyone with information on the incident to call Crimestoppers at 704-334-1600.

Neighbors say there was a shooting that damaged property in the area back in November of 2025, but the area has been quiet since.

This is the first homicide investigation in 2026. For context, the first homicide of 2025 happened on January 10th of last year.
