16-year-old killed in north Charlotte accident

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – A 16-year-old was killed in a car crash in north Charlotte last weekend.

It happened on Saturday, Jan. 3 around 9 a.m. in the 5800 block of West Sugar Creek Road near West W.T. Harris Boulevard. Upon arrival, officers said they located a damaged Toyota Yaris and BMW X3.

Police said a 16-year-old Comfort Antwi was traveling north on West Sugar Creek Road when her vehicle veered into oncoming traffic and struck a southbound BMW.

Antwi was transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. She was pronounced dead on Monday, Jan. 5.

The BMW driver was also taken to the hospital but there was no update on their condition.

The investigation into the crash remains ongoing. Toxicology reports are pending for Antwi, police said.
