Verizon service slowing returning for customers

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Verizon customers around the nation were impacted Wednesday by a massive service outage.

The outage started around 12:30 p.m. with over 180,000 customers without service.

“Verizon engineering teams are continuing to address today’s service interruptions. Our teams remain fully deployed and are focused on the issue,” Verizon said on X around 2 p.m. “We understand the impact this has on your day and remain committed to resolving this as quickly as possible.”

Customers reported devices being stuck in SOS mode.

Around 9 p.m., Verizon provided a statement, apologizing for the outage and that the team will be working through the night to restore service for all customers.

“Today, we let many of our customers down and for that, we are truly sorry. They expect more from us.

We are working non-stop and making progress. Our teams will continue to work through the night until service is restored for all impacted customers.

We will make this right – for any customer affected, we will provide account credits and share updates soon.

The outage impacted customers nationwide with Charlotte being among the most affected cities.

As of 9:30 p.m., there is still over 10,000 reported outages.
