Judge dismisses petition to remove Meck. Co. Sheriff Garry McFadden from office
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – A superior court judge has dismissed a petition to remove Mecklenburg County Sheriff Garry McFadden from office. Five people signed the petition seeking the sheriff’s removal, including state Rep. Carla Cunningham and former sheriff’s office Chief Deputy Kevin Canty.
Both accuse the sheriff of making threats, among other workplace issues. The judge dismissed their petition because an SBI investigation into McFadden is still on-going. The petition to remove him could be filed again in the future.
