Charlotte Black Voter Project hosts candidate forums

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Charlotte Black Voter Project hosted candidate forums on Thursday. The event comes as 2026 primary voting gets underway. Organizers say they want to ensure all voters get the information they need from candidates to cast their ballots. Those taking part included Congresswoman Alma Adams, Representative Carla Cunningham and Mecklenburg County Sheriff Garry McFadden, all of whom are hoping to keep their seats in November’s mid-term election.

Attendees tell WCCB they want to see more events just like this one. Ronald Berry says, “I’m interested in the future of the country and the future of North Carolina. And, I’ve been active in the past, and I want to continue to be active in the political future of our country.”

The Charlotte Black Voter Project says they encourage everyone to cast a ballot in every election.
