Charlotte Fire rescues driver from pickup submerged in pond

The Charlotte Fire Department rescued the driver of a pickup truck that was submerged in a pond in east Charlotte on Saturday night.

Around 7:35 p.m., firefighters responded to Jerimoth Drive near Cuddington Drive about a vehicle reportedly underwater. Firefighters arrived at the truck, which was partially submerged, with the driver standing on the bed.

The driver was successfully freed around 8:25 p.m. He was treated at the scene, and no injuries were reported.

Officials said the driver lost control, left the roadway, and landed in a retention pond. The driver exited the vehicle as it went underwater.
