Black ice concerns continue; showers return midweek

Temperatures slightly warming, but still below average this week

Weekend snow totals:

  • 11” reported at CLT airport making it the snowiest single day in Charlotte since Feb. 26, 2004
  • Snow totals ranged from around 6” – 16” across the area

Headlines:

  • Black ice and snow covered roads lead to hazardous travel once again – this will likely be an isolated concern through midweek. Possibly through the end of the week in some spots.
  • Temperatures slightly warming, but still below average this week
  • Scattered rain shows move in Wednesday
    – A few snow flurries mixed in on the backside of the rain, but nothing close to what we just saw!

Forecast:
Groundhogs Day: A clear and very cool start to the week. We will see plenty of sunshine with highs in 40 today.

Tuesday: Starting off below freezing, but not as cold as Monday morning. Morning lows near 20 with highs in the low to mid 40s. Clouds increase through the day. Isolated showers possible late.

Wednesday: Cloudy. Highs in the mid 40s with scattered showers. Snow flurries possible as the rain tapers off, but not amounting to anything.

Thursday: Mostly sunny. Highs in the low 40s.

Friday: Mostly sunny. Highs near 50!!
