SBI investigating shooting involving Hickory police officer

HICKORY, N.C. – The North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation is investigating a shooting involving an officer with the Hickory Police Department, the NC SBI said on Facebook.

It happened around 10 a.m. Sunday near the St. Luke’s United Methodist Church in Hickory. 

Police were there conducting a traffic enforcement event. Investigators said one officer fired his weapon and struck a citizen that had a knife.

The SBI is investigating the incident. No other details have been released.
