Both Statesville High School and Crossroads Early College will operate on a two-hour delay schedule.

STATESVILLE, N.C. — A heavy law enforcement presence was reported at Statesville High School Monday morning following a bomb threat.

According to a parent who spoke with WCCB Charlotte, students were moved outside to the school’s stadium while authorities worked to clear the building. Police officers and K-9 units were seen entering and exiting the school.

Iredell-Statesville Schools later confirmed that a bomb threat was reported at Statesville High School at approximately 8:00 a.m. Out of an abundance of caution, both Statesville High School and Crossroads Early College were evacuated.

The district says the Statesville Police Department and the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office have since cleared the building. Both Statesville High School and Crossroads Early College will operate on a two-hour delay schedule.

Parents who wish to pick up their students must come into the school to sign them out. District officials thanked local law enforcement for their response and reiterated that student and staff safety remains a top priority.

A WCCB Charlotte crew is on the way to the scene. Updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
