DoorDash driver pleads guilty in teen’s murder
A DoorDash driver pleaded guilty Thursday for allegedly shooting and killing a 15-year-old in Uptown in 2025, according to Mecklenburg County court records.
Keshawn Boyd was arrested in connection to the death of Matthias Crockett on Jan. 22, 2025.
Boyd was delivering for DoorDash when he pulled up to an apartment complex on West 8th Street and left his car running and unattended. That’s when Crockett got into his car, and the two began to fight.
Boyd allegedly confessed to shooting Crockett and that the victim was not armed, records said. One day after the shooting, Boyd was charged with first-degree murder.
On Thursday, Boyd pleaded guilty to the case but for voluntary manslaughter, according to court records. He was sentenced to 48-70 months in prison. He also received credit for 393 days he has already spent in confinement.
