CMPD charges man with first-degree murder in deadly road rage case

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – A man is now behind bars for the deadly road rage shooting in an east Charlotte Food Lion parking lot.

It happened Thursday afternoon at the grocery store location on The Plaza. After the shooting, officers say the victim crashed into a doctor’s office across the street, where he died. That person has now been identified as 38-year-old Sean Mason.

55-year-old James Rothwell is accused of pulling the trigger and is charged with Mason’s murder.
