KANNAPOLIS, N.C. – The North Carolina Department of Transportation contract crews will be working in the vicinity of U.S. 29 and Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue in Kannapolis starting Monday.
They’re working to replace the existing bridge.
The contractor will be installing drainage under U.S. 29, requiring closures and detours for traffic as follows:
- Monday – Wednesday nights (Feb. 23-25): Northbound U.S. 29 detour: Dale Earnhardt Boulevard to S. Little Texas Avenue to Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue from 8 p.m. – 6 p.m.
- Sunday – Tuesday nights (March 2-4): Southbound U.S. 29 detour: Jackson Park Road to East Avenue to N. Ridge Avenue to Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue from 8 p.m. – 6 p.m.
