Warmer, windier, & wetter days ahead

Highs near 60Β° for most across the Piedmont & Foothills, but we may be hard-pressed to see much sunshine through the remainder of the workweek.

Happy Hump Day! More spring-like conditions settle into the back half of the workweek after a frigid Monday & Tuesday, but don’t expect to get your tan on anytime soon. The clouds that built in last night will stick around through the next several days as an expansive rainmaking system approaches from the west. That said, most locations remain dry this Wednesday afternoon as highs approach 60Β° across the Piedmont and Foothills, fueled by stiff breezes out of the southwest.

Rain chances will pick up from northwest-to-southeast overnight as a cold front sags over the Carolinas by Thursday morning. Scattered rain, which could be heavy at times, will hang around through the afternoon into the early evening hours before clearing to the southeast. Most locations across the WCCB Charlotte viewing area will receive at least a half-inch of rain on Thursday, with localized amounts potentially approaching 1-2″.

A few more rain chances will linger into the first half of the weekend as the aforementioned front stalls just to our southeast, but the bulk of the rain will have come and gone by Friday morning. Queen City highs will hang around 60Β° through the final two days of the workweek before shooting up near 70Β° on Saturday. Plentiful sunshine returns by Sunday, allowing for a wonderful finish to the upcoming weekend as the mercury rises back into the mid-70s for most across the Piedmont & Foothills. Another round of chillier air – and perhaps more rain chances – lurk ahead as we kick off March’s first workweek.
