The Edge: Parents stay out later than expected, MIL stays up waiting for them
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – A couple in their early 40s planned a day out to go hiking and have dinner with friends. They left their 16 and 12-year-old kids home alone, something they say they’ve done many times before. They made lunch, and arranged for grandma to drop off dinner. The couple told everyone they’d be out late. But when the evening ran longer than expected, they walked into their own home to find mom sitting in the living room, furious.
She says they were disrespectful for not updating her about their whereabouts.
They say she was never asked to stay.
Was this genuine concern, or an overstep?
