2 Monroe officers injured in crash on Highway 74

MONROE, N.C. – Two officers are recovering after being involved in an accident in Monroe on Friday morning, according to the Monroe Police Department.

It happened on Highway 74 near Stafford Street. Officers were responding to a call about someone going into cardiac arrest when they were involved in a multi-car collision, police said.

Both officers were transported to a local hospital for further evaluation. One officer sustained a concussion and the other received stitches for a cut on the head, police said.

The two officers are expected to make a full recovery. 

The crash remains under investigation.
