Wedged in to start workweek, taste of summer ahead
Outside of some patchy drizzle today & tomorrow, rain chances remain few and far between through the workweek.
We’ve made it to March! Meteorological spring got off to a warm start on Sunday as the Queen City topped out at 77Β°, but we’re falling back to earth this Monday afternoon, thanks to a classic Carolina Wedge. A strong ridge of high pressure to our north will pump much colder air into the Carolinas through Tuesday afternoon, keeping clouds and patchy drizzle around while temperatures struggle to clear the 30s & 40s across the board. Don’t stress out too much if you’re a fan of warmer weather – we’ll get a little taste of summer by the end of the week.
Much warmer air will swell into the WCCB Charlotte viewing area by Wednesday as we get hit with a blowtorch out of the southwest. Highs will quickly swell into the 60s & 70s from the High Country to the Sandhills for our Hump Day, and it gets even warmer from there. Afternoon temperatures will be challenging record highs in the upper 70s and lower 80s across the Piedmont & Foothills by the end of the week. While a storm system could roll into the Carolinas by the end of the upcoming weekend, meaningful rain chances remain few and far between through the next five days.
