Taste of summer arrives
Modest rain chances pick up by Saturday evening and linger well into next week.
Happy Friday Eve! The warmest stretch of temperatures we’ve seen in nearly six months begins today. Highs will soar near 80Β° across the Piedmont & Foothills this Thursday afternoon, supported by consistent southwesterly flow. Temperatures likely climb into record territory on Friday; the record high in the Queen City for March 6th currently stands at 80Β°. Expect more of the same this weekend, although increasing cloud cover and stray/isolated showers & storms could keep much of the WCCB Charlotte viewing area a bit cooler in the 60s & 70s. The opportunities for rain arrive as a cold front approaches from the northwest, but models suggest the incoming system will stall over the Carolinas, keeping temperatures high and rain chances nearby well into next week.
Another value on the rise is humidity. Dew points will climb near 60Β° starting on Friday, which will be noticeable as you head out the door this weekend. While humidity levels won’t be intolerable, it may feel more like summer at times over the next several days. Afternoon temperatures may even find their way into the mid-80s on Tuesday and Wednesday of next week before another cold front flushes out the heat and the moisture by midweek next week. Summer-lovers, rejoice!
