Storm chances rising

Tracking spring temps and storms

Spring fever is about to return the chances of thunderstorms to the WCCB Charlotte viewing area. Highs once again soared today into the upper 70s and lower 80s today. On top of that, the muggy meter is on the rise as a humid air mass has moved into the area. This is helping to fire off a few showers and even thunderstorms across the area this evening. Rain will become more widespread overnight as a complex of storms to our west moves this direction. The severe threat is low although some gusty winds and small hail aren’t impossible.

By tomorrow afternoon, shower and storm chances will hang around. Once again, the severe threat is low, but gusty winds and some hail will be possible in a few storms. Rain chances will diminish Sunday night as the next wave of well above average temperatures prepares to make its statement early next week.

Monday will once again feature highs near 80 degrees. By Tuesday, we start to enter record-breaking territory as highs soar into the mid to upper 80s. This will hold for Wednesdays as records look likely to be broken. The record high on Tuesday is 82 and 83 for Wednesday. Both days will likely have highs near 85, so those records don’t look to last much longer! Rain chances look to once again return by next Wednesday night and into Thursday. This will likely bring a return to more seasonable temperatures by the end of next week.

A friendly reminder that the clocks spring forward tonight by an hour at 2:00am. Get ready for later sunsets, and record-breaking temperatures over the next 7 days!
