Record heat on the way

Tracking record-breaking temperatures

Get ready to turn the AC on as summer-like temperatures take over the WCCB viewing area early this week. Before we get to that, we are dodging some scattered showers and storms this evening. We will begin to dry out as the evening goes on with most rain being gone by 8pm. Clouds will remain and fog will build in for most by tomorrow morning. The clouds and fog won’t last long as the sun comes out during the late morning and early afternoon. This will begin the trend of summer-like weather as highs approach 80 for most tomorrow afternoon in the Piedmont and close to 70 in the High Country.

By Tuesday afternoon, record-breaking heat will begin to work in. Highs on Tuesday will approach the mid 80s, which will put the record high of 82 in jeopardy. We could also see an isolated thunderstorm Tuesday afternoon or evening, helping to add to the summer feels. Wednesday the heat peaks with highs crossing 85 for most in the Piedmont! The High Country will see highs in the mid 70s for Wednesday.

Wednesday night is when reality strikes back as a line of showers and storms approaches from the west. The timing for this to cross our area looks to be early Thursday as of right now. It’s too soon to know if there will be a severe weather threat with this system. What we do know is it will knock temperatures back down briefly for Thursday and Friday. Although even with this temperatures will still be at or above average. An early look at next weekend shows more warm weather and limited rain chances!
