CMPD officer injured in north Charlotte wreck

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – A CMPD cruiser turned on its side after being involved in a car crash in north Charlotte on Thursday afternoon.

It happened around 3:15 p.m. on North Tryon Street near Orr Road.

WCCB crew at the scene saw a CMPD cruiser on its side and a damaged black vehicle. The other vehicle had its air bags deployed.

CMPD said the officer was responding Priority 1 emergency call with lights and sirens on at the time of the collision.

Both the officer and the other driver were transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
