Old Dominion University shooting suspect has ties to Charlotte area

NORFOLK, VA – One person is dead and two others are hurt after a shooting at Old Dominion University.

WCCB has learned the suspect, Mohamed Jalloh, had ties to the Charlotte area. Jalloh was a former member of the Army National Guard. In 2016, he pleaded guilty to providing material support to the Islamic State Group, or ISIS. At that time, FBI documents show Jalloh was planning attacks on military personnel across the nation, and tried to buy guns in Charlotte, but was not successful.

Jalloh was also killed in Thursday’s attack. It’s still unknown how he died.
