Woman arrested for alleged kidnapping in Lincoln County
DENVER, N.C. – A woman was arrested after a reported kidnapping in Lincoln County, according to the sheriff’s office.
Deputies conducted a welfare check Friday at an address near Denver and said that 30-year-old Amber White left the residence with three children, one of which was not hers.
Throughout the investigation, deputies obtained surveillance footage which showed White and the juveniles leaving a QuikTrip in a black Infiniti G35.
The sheriff’s office said they contacted the registered owner of the vehicle, who provided an address in Charlotte where they may have been dropped off.
Deputies worked with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department officers and responded to a Motel 6 in Charlotte where White was taken into custody without incident.
The child was found safe and returned to a guardian.
“This case demonstrates the strong teamwork, communication, and dedication our deputies bring to every situation,” said Sheriff Bill Beam. “Because of their efforts and cooperation with our partners, a child was safely recovered and the suspect was quickly taken into custody.”
White was transported back to Lincoln County and charged with kidnapping. She is being held without bond.
