Strong wind and rain knocks down trees across Charlotte

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – With strong winds and rain, there have been reports of trees down all across Charlotte. The trees came tumbling down smashing homes, businesses and vehicles Monday afternoon.

Crews work to remove a large tree that fell on a home in the Sedgefield neighborhood.

Rain and wind picked up across the area throughout the day Monday, but some neighbors on Guilford Road were shocked to see the force of the wind.

Trees fell all across the charlotte area. Off Central Avenue, a tree pulled down power lines and crashed into a shed at an auto repair shop. In South Charlotte, a tree fell on a house on Middleton Drive. In South West Charlotte, a tree fell on an SUV on Youngblood Road.

Neighbors say it’s important to remember to examine your trees and even potentially trim or cut them down before it’s too late.

We’re still working to learn if there were any weather related injuries, but so far no injuries have been reported.
