2 men charged in east Charlotte homicide

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Two men were charged in connection to a deadly shooting in east Charlotte.

Angelvis Fernandez, 22, and Anthony Ruiz-Polanco, 33, were charged with first-degree murder and conspiracy for the fatal shooting of 31-year-old Luis Gutierrez Mora.

It happened around 2 a.m. Sunday on Albemarle Road near Central Avenue. Mora was transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries but died on Tuesday.

Fernandez was served on Wednesday while already in custody. Ruiz-Polanco was arrested Friday and is now in the custody of the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office.
