Investigation after couple hurt in massive home explosion in Catawba Co.

CATAWBA CO., N.C. – Two people have life-threatening injuries after a home explosion in Catawba County. The State Bureau of Investigation says it happened early Wednesday morning on Shook Road in Claremont.

Officials say a couple inside was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries and their 14-year-old daughter was able to escape unharmed.

Multiple state and local agencies are investigating what led up to that blast, including whether there were explosives inside the home.
