Catawba Co. Sheriff’s Office investigating drowning death of 7-year-old boy

CATAWBA CO., – The Catawba County Sheriff’s Office says a seven-year-old boy drowned in a body of water at Bruce Meisner Park in Hickory. It happened just before seven Wednesday night.

Family members have identified the boy as Abel Friday. A GoFundMe has been set up to help his family cover funeral expenses.

The little boy’s drowning is under investigation.
