Around 8:30 a.m. Friday, officers were dispatched to a home on 5th Street SE in Hickory after a woman said her husband had a firearm and intended to harm himself. While responding, multiple neighbors called 911, stating that a man, later identified as 64-year-old Andrew Thompson, was firing a weapon at passing vehicles from his porch, officials said.
