LOCUST, N.C. – An off-duty Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department officer was arrested for driving while impaired in Stanly County on Wednesday, CMPD said.
On April 8, the Locust Police Department charged CMPD’s Officer Auch with driving while impaired, expired registration card/tag, and expired/no inspection. Police said Auch was off duty when the incident occurred.
“Officer Auch’s arrest is a serious matter, and our community deserves clear accountability,” CMPD Chief Patterson said. “I expect every member of the Charlotte‑Mecklenburg Police Department to uphold the highest professional and ethical standards, both on and off duty. One individual’s action is not reflective of the dedication and integrity of the many men and women who serve this community every day.”
No additional details about the events leading up to the arrest were released.
Officer Auch has been placed on unpaid administrative leave while the investigation into the incident is still ongoing. Auch has worked for CMPD since February 2023.
