Two men facing charges after horses seen running through Uptown

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Videos circulating on social media show men riding horses through Uptown before a trick goes wrong. Two men are now facing charges after the incident.

“He started doing tricks, stood on the horse, as you can see in the video. Then he like fell off the horse went running, like a full block and then just got hit. It just just straight into oncoming traffic,” Ja’Queria Lynch, said.

Ja’Queria Lynch and her friends were in Uptown Charlotte Saturday night near college street when she recorded the video.

“I think that’s quite dangerous, especially if people don’t really know how to handle the horse correctly,” Lynch said.

A second video taken that same night at Trade and Tryon appears to show the same man wearing a black shirt and camo pants riding a horse around the corner when the horse falls to the ground.

27 year old brothers Deven and Desmon Moore are both are charged with resisting public officer and disorderly conduct. The twins are seen interacting with police in a video on social media while the horses stand in the middle of the street.

Charlotte City Councilwoman Dimple Ajmera says a city ordinance makes it illegal to let animals loose in the city.

“This is not just about safety of our people, but it also speaks to the safety of an animal,” Councilwoman Ajmera said. “So when a when an animal is loose in busy uptown area, it becomes a real safety issue for everyone.”

Councilwoman Ajmera says she’s open to discussing new rules, if necessary.

“If there are gaps, we must address that because this is a public safety issue and we need to make sure there is accountability here. So this doesn’t happen again,” Councilwoman Ajmera said.

Lynch says she’s relieved the horses are okay and no one was seriously hurt.
