2 men arrested in deadly Alexander County shooting

STONY POINT, N.C. – Two men are facing charges following a deadly shooting in Alexander County on Tuesday night, according to the sheriff’s office.

Around 11 p.m., deputies received a call about a reported civil disturbance at a residence on Fairmont Court in Stony Point, North Carolina. The original caller disconnected, but deputies said they received a call shortly after from a neighbor that heard yelling followed by gunshots.

When deputies arrived, they located a victim outside the home. The victim received aid on scene but was pronounced dead.

Investigators said the suspects, 19-year-old Jacob Perkins and 21-year-old Jeremiah Freeland, fled the scene in a white Nissan Altima. The vehicle was located on Hickory Highway in Statesville, and the two men were arrested.

Freeland was charged with murder. Perkins, listed as homeless, was charged with accessory after the fact of murder. Both are being held at the Alexander County Detention Center without bond.
