Judge sentences man who hit and killed missionary in northwest Charlotte
A driver who hit and killed a Mormon missionary in northwest Charlotte and then took off is going to jail.Β
According to court documents, Tyzhaun Carney entered a guilty plea to several charges, including involuntary manslaughter and felony hit and run.
Carney hit 18-year-old Aleki Langi on Beatties Ford Road in May of 2025 and then drove off.
A judge sentenced Carney to at least two and a half years in prison.
