Charlotte City Council approves raise for firefighters

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The Charlotte City Council voted to adjust the budget to give a 10% raise to members of the Charlotte Fire Department.

Council members also voted to change the modified duty time limit from 10 years to five years.

The adjustment in pay will match the recent raise approved for the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department.

The costs for taxpayers will be roughly $4.4 million annually.
