The man accused of attempting to break into a homeowners’ car in Rock Hill before shooting and killing him was arrested Saturday, according to police.
Jakelvin Conner, 24, was arrested on June 7 and charged with murder for the death of 39-year-old Lebyron Cathcart.
The shooting happened at 4:40 a.m. Thursday morning on Amelia Avenue when Cathcart saw someone inside his vehicle. As he went outside his home, the suspect ran away.
Police say the Cathcart chased after the suspect before the gunshots were fired.
Officers arrived in the area and located the Cathcart in the yard of a home on Amelia Avenue. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Detectives are still investigating the shooting. Additional charges may be forthcoming against Conner, police said.
