Four-alarm fire tears through apartment building, leaving 59 people without homes
ROWAN CO., N.C. – Nearly 60 people need a new place to live after a massive four-alarm fire tore through an apartment building in Rowan County. It broke out around seven PM Saturday at The Grand on Julian off Julian Road.
Crews arrived to find fire showing through the roof. 23 units were destroyed and 59 people are displaced. We’re told a few people had minor injuries, but are expected to recover.
The Rowan County Fire Marshal says the fire started in a breezeway. The Marshal says that rumors the fire began from someone grilling on a deck are not true. Several agencies are helping residents.
