18-year-old motorcyclist killed in west Charlotte crash

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – One person has died after a crash in west Charlotte.

It happened around 1:15 p.m. Friday afternoon near the intersection of Freedom Drive and Ashley Road.

When police arrived, they located a blue motorcycle damaged in the roadway. The rider, later identified as 18-year-old Kaiden Riley Molitas, was found unresponsive. He was transported to the hospital where he later died from his injuries sustained in the crash.

Impairment is not believed to be a factor, police said.

No word right now on what led up to the crash.

The investigation remains ongoing.
