CHARLOTTE, N.C. (June 17, 2026) – The following nominations were submitted for the mayoral vacancy and will advance for interviews during the Special Meeting called for noon, Thursday, June 18, 2026.
The candidates have been notified by the City Clerk’s Office.
MAYORAL VACANCY
One appointment for an 18-month term beginning July 1, 2026, and ending December 6, 2027.
- Harold Cogdell, nominated by Council members Ajmera, Anderson, Graham, Johnson, Mitchell, and Owens.
- Carrie Cook, nominated by Council members Anderson, Mayfield, Mayo, and Watlington.
- Robert Harrington, nominated by Council members Driggs, Graham, Mayfield, Mayo, and Owens.
- James Mitchell, Jr., nominated by Council members Driggs, Graham, Johnson, Mazuera Arias, and Mitchell.
- Caleb Theodros, nominated by Council members Mazuera Arias, Johnson, Mitchell, and Owens.
The following nominations were also received:
- Michael Evans nominated by Council members Anderson and Driggs.
- Sebastian Feculak, nominated by Council members Ajmera and Mazuera Arias.
- Jennifer Roberts, nominated by Council member Ajmera.
- Douglas Welton, nominated by Council member Mayo.
The Special Meeting will be held at the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Government Center, located at 600 E. Fourth St., in room 267.
