CMPD investigating Friday night homicide on Scaleybark Road

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – A homicide investigation is underway after one person died in south Charlotte.

Around 9:15 p.m. Friday, police responded to the 1100 of Scaleybark Road near East Woodlawn Road to conduct the investigation. Medic said the call was dispatched as an assault. 

Police say when they got to the scene, a woman was found dead inside an apartment at the Charlotte Woods Apartments.

CMPD says they received multiple 911 calls, and that there were reports of a man and a woman fighting.

News crews saw bullet holes in the building, and asked if it was a deadly shooting. Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Major Brad Koch said the woman had not been shot. He declined to say anything else about her manner of death.
