Local faith leader calls on parents to do more to control their kids

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The faith community is speaking out after dangerous teen takeovers. Bishop Amere May is calling for accountability from parents for their kids behavior. Bishop May says his church is one of the newest spots for a teen takeover. He says multiple incidents have occurred on and around Faith City Charlotte property.

The teens caused damage to the parking lot, entry way and poles.

One of the most notable teen takeovers was back in February at Birkdale Village. Viral video showed dozens of kids holding up traffic in the street, and jumping on cars.

May says, “Most of these people are playing a real life serious game that’s going to cause them their life, either in prison or death. And I’ll also send out a message, parents, where are thou children at 12:00 AM? This is not just a race issue, this is accountability issues.”

The bishop says they even heard there would be another teen takeover Friday night in a different part of Charlotte.
